The picturesque village of Franschhoek is nestled between towering mountains in the Cape Winelands in one of the most beautiful valleys in the country. The cottages are situated in the heart of the village & within a few minutes walk of the renowned restaurants.

Cook´s Cottage is ideal for two couples or a small family. The master bedroom upstairs contains a mosaic bath under the window, built-in cupboards & DSTV. It has a shower room & separate toilet. The adjoining study, has a sofa bed, large desk & an ADSL/Broadband connection. Downstairs is the second double bedroom with built-in cupboards & a shower room across the corridor. The fully-equipped kitchen is open-plan & overlooks the dining area & living room. French doors lead out to the verandah which has a dining table, sofa & chairs. The pool is found at the side of the house.

The Map Room can accommodate 4 people and is an unusual accommodation arranged over two floors with the bedroom downstairs & the living area upstairs. The master bedroom has a built-in sultan's bath leading into an en-suite ‘wet-room' with shower. A twin bedded room is also available upon request. Upstairs is the expansive open plan & double-volume fully equipped kitchen, living room & dining area with a log fireplace. There is also a Flat-screen TV with DSTV, DVD & classic movie selection.

Deposit Conditions:

50% Non-refundable deposit required to confirm booking, direct or internet deposit.

Balance of payment is due on arrival, cash or cheque.

Cancellation policy:

Deposit will not be refunded if a booking is cancelled.

In most cases we will allow early check-ins and late check-outs if the apartment is available. Please advise us if you require early check-in or late check out.

The Guest will make good any damages or loss caused by himself or his party and this will be charged to the final account to be paid on departure.

Franschhoek offers not only food and wine, but also a vibrant, artistic community in one of the most beautiful valleys in the country. Cook's Cottage is situated in the heart of Franschhoek and is within a few minutes walk of the renowned restaurants. The spacious master bedroom upstairs in the eaves, contains a mosaic bath under the window, built-in cupboards and DSTV (satellite). It has a shower room and a separate toilet. The study, adjoining the master bedroom has a sofa bed, a large desk and an ADSL/Broadband connection. Downstairs is the second double bedroom with built-in cupboards and a mosaic-tiled shower room across the corridor. The fully-equipped kitchen is open-plan to the dining area and overlooks the dining area and living room. It has the best modern appliances for catering at home. French doors lead out to the verandah which has a dining table, sofa and chairs. A covered stoep (verandah) opens around the side of the property, leading to the garden. The small garden is private & secure & incorporates the 3x3m plunge pool. A gate opens from the street into the driveway, off-street parking & front door. A maid will service the house at an extra charge upon request.

The Map Room is located in one of the oldest and grandest streets of Franschhoek; Cabriere Street. This section of the street is one of the last streets to remain un-tarred in the village, retaining its ‘agricultural' feel, where tractors still ply the track. This unusual accommodation is arranged over two floors with the bedroom downstairs and the living area upstairs accessed through a spiral staircase. The living quarters at raised ground level contain one gargantuan master bedroom with built-in sultan's bath leading into an en-suite ‘wet-room' with shower. There is a ceiling fan above the bed and heating panels on the walls. Downstairs is the hallway, guest bathroom with shower, loo and basin and spiral staircase leading to the upstairs living area. The first floor has the watering hole, grazing area and place to kick off your thousand-milers. Expansive open plan and double-volume kitchen/living room and dining area with a log fireplace. Flat-screen TV with DSTV, DVD and classic movie selection. Six folding glass doors open onto the deck with barbecue, table and chairs, looking out across the vineyards and mountains. There is a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine and the Map Room has a fast WiFi connection for those who want time to research their next expedition into the wild blue yonder. A maid will service the house at an extra charge upon request.

Driving directions

* Take the N1 from Cape Town towards Paarl. Take Exit 47 marked Klapmuts.
* Turn right onto R44, drive under N1 motorway.
* Take the second left turn marked Franschhoek (R45).
* At T-junction turn right. Drive towards Franschhoek.

COOK'S COTTAGE

* As you enter the village, pass BP Garage on the left.
* Second right is De La Rey Street, off the main street.
* Cook's Cottage is the cottage on the right at the first junction with Van Wijk Street.

THE MAP ROOM

* Continue on the main road (Huguenot Street) until the Police Station (on your left)
* Turn right into Berg Street, then take second right into Cabriere Street.
* The Map Room is number 21 on your right handside.
