The Riverside Cottages at La Bourgogne are converted staff houses, dating back to 1952, and are situated on the banks of the river between a pear orchard to the west and oaks and willows to the east. The glow of sunset colours on the Middagkrans Mountains, framed by the trees, is spectacular.
A swimming pool with sun loungers, parasols and a deck overhangs the river providing the perfect place to unwind and take in Franschhoek's magificent mountain views whilst having a casual braai. Our cottages are comfortable living in a beautiful and tranquil setting, ideal for wondeful summers, family retreat or a cosy, romantic winter weekend away. The stream which runs through the farm, is a tributary of the Franschhoek River, and plays a meaningful role in the supply of water to our farm, and to those down stream of us. Please respect the river and all its environs. A pair of Black Duck lives on the river, we have Cape Eagle Owls in the oaks surrounding us, and genet cats can make the keeping chickens a hazardous matter.
The farm produces plums, pears, butternut, grapes and olives. We supply plums to export markets in Europe and the Mid/Far East, and the farm continues to win prizes and awards due to the efforts of our farming team.
The Franschhoek valley has something for everyone ... hiking, golf, horseriding and fly-fishing can be enjoyed in close proximity to the farm.
