La Bourgogne - home to Riverside Cottages - is a working farm producing high quality wine and other farm products. The Riverside Cottages at La Bourgogne are converted staff houses, dating back to 1952, and are situated on the banks of the river between a pear orchard to the west and oaks and willows to the east. The glow of sunset colours on the Middagkrans Mountains, framed by the trees, is spectacular.

 

ACCOMMODATION FEATURES:
All cottages have open plan kitchens equipped with two plate stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, a small fridge and the usual crockery, cutlery and glasses. Bathrooms are showers only, have under floor heating, and toweling is provided. The open plan living rooms are comfortable each with a wood fired fireplace.  Our Cottages also offer Wi Fi availability to guests at a additional cost of R30 per day.

Our cottages offer comfortable living in a beautiful and tranquil setting, ideal for wonderful summers, family holidays, wedding accommodation, or a cosy, romantic winter weekend away.

ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES:
The cottages are set in the midst of a working farm. Guests are welcome to walk on the farm, and due care should be taken when doing so. Free wine and olive oil tasting for all our guests on the farm, this can be booked on check in with our reception. Jungle Gym and Play areas for children. Laundry cleaning by request. Baby sitting available by request. Farm walks.

A swimming pool with sun loungers, parasols and a deck overhangs the river providing the perfect place to unwind and take in Franschhoek's magnificent mountain views. Braais are provided on each cottage veranda. The fire place is supplied with a basket of wood, and additional baskets can be bought. Franschhoek offers a cycle hire facility, fly fishing, mountain walks and hikes, and general wine tourism. Wi Fi available by request at R30.

 

The stream which runs through the farm, is a tributary of the Franschhoek River, and plays a meaningful role in the supply of water to our farm, and to those down stream of us. Please respect the river and all its environs. A pair of Black Duck lives on the river, we have Cape Eagle Owls in the oaks surrounding us, and genet cats can make keeping chickens a hazardous matter.

 

The farm produces plums, pears, butternut, grapes and olives. We supply plums to export markets in Europe and the Mid/Far East, and the farm continues to win prizes and awards due to the efforts of our farming team.

 

The Franschhoek valley has something for everyone ... hiking, golf, horseriding and fly-fishing can be enjoyed in close proximity to the farm.

Driving directions

When you come into Franschhoek from the Cape town direction driving on the R45, carry on to the end where you will come to a T-Junction,
In front of you, you will see the Huguenot Monument.
Turn RIGHT at the T-Junction
Carry on with this road for 1,5 kilometers (Excelsior road)
While on this road you will pass La Bri wine estate to your right,
Then you will pass Bourgogne Private Farm to your right (DO NOT TURN INTO BOURGOGNE IT IS NOT OUR FARM, IT IS OUR NEIGHBORS AND A WORKING FRUIT FARM)
After you passed Bourgogne you will come into a long bend in the road after that you will find our first gate which reads La Bourgogne (to your right) keep on with the road and one hundred meters after that gate you will see the Riverside Cottages Gate to the right.
Please buzz the number 1/2/3 at the gate and we will welcome and direct you from there.
